Who We Are

The Hispanic Business Student Association was founded in the Fall of 1980 by a few students who were determined to create opportunities for the Hispanic community. These students shared a goal of providing resources for members to excel as business professionals and mold generations of successful leaders. Originally named Mexican American Business Student Association, a rapid growth of members enabled the change to an increasingly inclusive entity. HBSA is now one of the largest student organizations at Bauer and is highly respected nationwide. Here at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, we continue to generate leaders and sow the seed of opportunity for all.

A Message From Our President And Vice-President

Bryan Giovani Cruz Primera -

president

Hola Familia!

My name is Bryan Giovani Cruz Primera, but you can call me Gio! I am so excited to be your President for the Fall of 2024! I am currently a junior majoring in Political Science and Public Policy with a minor in Business Administration.

During my first semester, I came to HBSA not knowing many people, feeling very shy, and unsure of how to network. With the help of amazing peers and professionals, I was able to discover a side of myself I hadn’t seen before. I am incredibly thankful for the people I have met and hope to share my experience with everyone I meet along the way.

My goal this semester is to show everyone that they too can really step up if they put their minds to it. Achieving success and greatness truly comes from within. With the opportunities offered by HBSA and the community around us, there is nothing we can’t accomplish.

Cuauhtemoc Lopez - Vice president

Hola familia! I’m Cuauhtemoc Lopez, and I’m honored to serve as your Vice President for the Fall 2024 semester. I am currently senior majoring in marketing with a minor in fashion merchandising, I’ve been part of HBSA since Fall 2022. Transitioning to this large university from a community college in Dallas, Texas, was challenging. I had now friends and no idea how to start this new journey as a college student. However, my experience transformed when I found HBSA at cats back with my best friend, Crystal Mandujano. This organization has profoundly impacted my life, helping me grow personally and professionally, alongside lifelong friends.

This semester, my aim is to nurture future leaders of our organization and support both members and the board in becoming their best selves. If you’re considering joining HBSA, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d be thrilled to connect you with the community that has been so transformative for me. To anyone reading this: remember, you are valued and capable of achieving great things. The world is full of possibilities waiting for you.

Your friend, Temo!
